Geek TV Shows

It's the start of the new Fall television line-up and there seems to be a lot of buzz about "Geek" TV shows. I've come across many articles about "Geek is chic" and so on, locally and nationally. As someone who admits to being on the geeky side myself, my response is: meh.

What exactly is a "Geek TV Show"? Apparently it is a TV show where the main character is stereotypically nerdy/geeky. However, I think there is a big difference between shows that are about geeks and shows that are for geeks and the media seems to be lumping them together. I'll tell you what I like in a TV show: good writing, complex plots, witty dialog, believable characters, etc.--bonus points: include lots of details and internal references that you can pick up watching a second time. Here's what doesn't interest me at all: Steve Urkel reincarnations, storylines from a template, overblown stereotypes and flat dialog.

Guess I'll be waiting to see what the mid-season offerings are.
